I wouldn't have bought a record in my pre-teen years.
This was one I can remember listening to before I became a teenager.
Too Young - Nat King Cole.

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge over troubled water. Fairly appropriate today
https://youtu.be/NAEppFUWLfc

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain still remains
Within the sound of silence

That seems to be a bit of a cheat as it was released originally in the sixties

I bought it in the 70s.
I thought it was released in January 1970 but Brisbane has always been behind Bristol (*) so you're probably right.

Bridge over Troubled Water album was released in 1970 as far as I was aware
But the lyrics above did indeed come from a 60's song and album .... The Sound of Silence

Johnny Cash - I love you because

I could have chosen that for the 1970s question.
