Not racism, thickism, I’d say the same about anyone as stupid as that woman.

Oh and by the way, it’s not my fault she’s thick

I disagree with Gaz, in that I genuinely do not see this as racist.

Ms Abbott has made some pretty impressive gaffes especially with numbers, but at least she has not been in a position of power

Of far greater worry to me is that the conservative government has had people acting as Secretaries of State, who have shown themselves to be beyond thick. Immediately one thinks of Grayling, davies, Truss, Patel, Raab. Leadsom , Mcvey,, Johnson ,Villiers all of whom have made ridiculous gaffes( which I can elaborate if challenged, ) and these are the people in charge of governing our country! Not only thick but incompetent.

unless you can contradict any of these "thickisms" then presumably you will actually be as disparaging about these Tories as you have about the Shadow secretary of State .

I look forward to such a balanced approach from you . However my expectation is very low as I have never noticed you to say anything about politics which makes any attempt to be well balanced

Rather a lot too consider there, as I don’t know which gaffes some of them have made, but if they have then fair comment. I am aware of the gaffes the lovely Ms Abbott has made, and obviously some of the people I follow on Twitter are more likely to highlight her gaffes than those of members of the Tory party.
We are never going to be in harmony on this topic

Gloves, masks and soap/gel SO important...Britain simply isn't prepared for what is about to unfold. There HAS to be far better information releases by the authorities

What is being recommended in the UK is NOOOOTHING compared to the hard hand against CV in Spain:

People can only leave their houses with written documentation from their employer indicating arriving and leaving times and constance of importance of their presence needed confirmed in writing.

Shopping can only be local and they are checked to ensure they are staying within their zone. If you go over the other side of town to the supermarket that's about a 600€ fine.

Dogs can only be taken for short local walks, and it's being enforced as police ask for documents showing your address plus animal certification (to avoid cheaters taking other people's dogs out to escape a while).

Only one person per car except for carers and young children (I think one is limit because the second has to be backseat) - two people sitting alongside each other or even two people (front/back) without being able to prove the need - means in this case a fine of some 1500€.

Fines in general for disobedience range from 300€ (e.g. walking too far with your dog) to 30000€ or prison (for physical defiance of authority) . Authorities here mean business. But we know human nature right? Only fines will create the right behaviour - you saw those English seaside pictures yesterday right?, and a lot of them are going to succomb to CV ...

Times like this show that capitalism & the free market economy don't work. Communist China has seemed to have done well to control the virus this through discipline, respect, togetherness & happy working as a team. Capitalist attitudes tend to be more "me, me, me" however and things are quicker to crumble in crisis.

While Communism has failed too overall, it's clear that a mixed economy with a degree of socialism works best for most!

Boris and Co.have just about got it right...…...the one's who have not, are the majority of the Public who have proved once again that a great many are morons without a grey cell between them. Put some in prison and fine them a £1000 or two, might, just might wake them up.

I just heard on our news that the elderly in the UK have been advised to prepare to stay indoors for 12 weeks.
I am expecting our Aged Care home to be put into lockdown today.
They have already stopped most visitors.
It's incomprehensible that there are so many people out there who are ignoring things like social distancing.

We've been isolating ourselves for some time now BUT we have been going down to the equestrian centre twice a day to look after Her Indoors' horse. We steer well clear of everybody there and spray germ killer on items of common equipment that we have to touch such as taps and gate latches. What we will do when the diesel runs out mid April? Maybe have her shot, the horse not the Missus....or on second thoughts......

Absolute nonsense that Boris & Co have got it right.

Did you agree with his sidekick Cummings when he said "if a few pensioners die, too bad"?

The initial approach from this government was slow, weak & gave far too many mixed messages. It's STILL too slow. People don't understand what to do. "Go out, don't go out, go to the parks, don't go to the parks" - it's pathetic leadership.

We need authority, and we need it NOW.

Yep, Britain has had the advantage if seeing where it went wrong in Italy and Spain but no lessons have been learnt. If only this week's action had come three weeks ago hundreds of elderly deaths would have been avoided. Here in Spain we've got the army on the streets - and fines handed out are REALLY high - like 1500€ for two people in the same car without special cause. Ignorance comands of police and army - up to 30,000€ fines.
If you don't take it seriously this will devastate you.
