I always play music in the car from my player on shuffle. Today’s gems included such diverse stuff as Smog, As It Is, The Darkness, Eisley, Alkaline Trio and Gaslight Anthem

Stupidity by Dr Feelgood today.

What an incredibly tight band they were. Lee Brilleaux was a superb front man.
Wilko Johnson wasn't too shabby a guitarist either. What a man and a true survivor! Not with the band now, but still touring!

My stuff for this morning's bath time was an acoustic album from Skin, the band, not the female vocalist, I saw Neville MacDonald when he was with Kooga in the 1980s, he is now back with a few members of Kooga playing under the name Hand of Dimes, and I had the pleasure of seeing them last year, when, despite playing lots of early Skin and Kooga numbers they didn't play my all-time favourite track of their's Gabrielle. The guy has such a wonderful voice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbmt1s8KhxM live from the 80s I think

When I was watching that Kooga track on youtube I happened to notice a documentary made by BBC Wales in three parts I'd never seen it before but made quite interesting viewing.

Plus being into New Order, The Fall, Scritti Politti, The Cure, Gang of Four, Wire, Orange Juice, Altered Images, The Associates, U2 before War and very early The Smiths
I know that if I ever listen to any of those bands I get the distinct impression that the next time I enjoy one will be a first. U2 are probably the best of a very poor bunch, are they still looking for that thing couldn’t find. Got so desperate they had to give away one of their albums, probably realising it wouldn’t sell.

You see that's where you and I differ.

There are many artists you like that I don't but I would never try to judge their merits. I could never listen to Rammstein but I wouldn't call them poor.

Other suggestions in this thread are an absolute row to my ears but again, it's not for me to call them poor.

Music is very much in the ear of the beholder.

Nonetheless, anybody who tries to argue the merits of Coldplay can do one.

I'll rephrase that then, not poor just boring. I was listening to a track by Anberlin in the car yesterday, I thought how did that get on my playlist I can't stand the Smiths only to discover it was a cover of one of their tracks.

Before Unforgettable Fire I really liked U2. Under A Blood Red Sky and the video that accompanied it are excellent documents of an exciting young band about to hit the big time.

Then they went in a studio with Brian Eno and as they say, the rest is pompous nonsense.

It Was Written by Nas

I suspect it might not appeal to many on here. You may find it lyrically challenging.

I don't listen to music in the car.
I concentrate on listening to my Sat Nav lady.

I find that she never argues
Mine does. Yesterday I had to detour because of an accident. She kept telling me to do a Uturn. Until I got back on the original route and then she carried on as if nothing had happened. Typical female.

Politically incorrect comment. Mind you my SATNAV does the same sort of thing and is male! :D

Today’s car journey was dotted with such diverse stuff as Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, Rascal Flatts, All Time Low, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, and one of my favourites Alkaline Trio.

I have a 2nd job as a DJ (functions mostly), let me tell you that staying credible doesn't help you with your bills.

You have to play what other people want and try to keep up to date with any big new tracks coming out.

Dance music was what got me into DJing, but with age & responsibility it meant I had to change my angle to appeal to a wider market. Saying that, I do love dropping "Hey Baby", "Cha cha Slide", "Sweet Caroline" etc. No matter what it is, I get a buzz seeing folk up dancing & enjoying theirselves to the tunes I play.
