99% of people under the age of 70 who contract this deadly virus survive it, 99%!! I bet families of cancer casualties wish their lost loved ones had that change of survival. We all die at some point and why should young people have their entire futures, education and lives destroyed by rich wealthy people who this doesn't affect financially at all. Kids will have lost a whole year of education at least by the time this is all over if not longer.

And ask yourself this, what if it doesn't go away or comes back again and again then what?? Are you happy to be locked up for the rest of your days or should we learn to adapt and live with it?
Typical, selfish attitude of those who try and deflect the truth, why can’t we just give you a gun and let you go around and shoot everyone over 70.
Hande hoch bristle!
There are those who would happily see the 'olds' done away with!
OK, so the youths of today will have a dent in their education and futures but is this any worse than what the older generation had to put up with during and after the war years? At least that generation rallied round and built the economy so that the present generations can be better off. They tend to forget this!

Nice to see Bojo the Clown testing his eye sight by cycling seven miles from home.

Ex-Eton schoolboy in "I'm privileged & I'll do exactly what I want" shocker.

But it wasn't a socialist Brian - it WAS a Tory.

Any comment on the Prime Minister bending the rules, or are you going to blame Corbyn or Tony Blair for it (as per usual)?

You missed Brian's point there. He said it SOUNDS like a socialist and was posting the most anti-Tory post I have ever read from him. You missed a golden opportunity Gaz!

I'll await his reply thanks.

I'm still waiting for a reply on the Dominic Cummings thread though, so I won't hold me breath.

Just an excuse to have a go at Boris, there was nothing wrong with what he did, you are allowed to take exercise, I bet none of the lycra-clad loonies who cycle everywhere for their keep fit regime don't stay within five miles of their home address. I await Dave Lister's response as a keen cyclist he'd give you a definitive answer. Mrs B and I (and we stay in the rest of the time) travel about six or seven miles to get our exercise so we are in a place where not many others are walking.

Jesus wept, talk about absolutely blinkered and besotted, if your beloved BoJo lined everyone up against the wall and shot them you'd still defend him from the comfort of your armchair whilst watching daytime TV and collecting your pension that young people have to pay for. Your beloved tories blamed pubs to begin with and now it's kids spreading the virus so who are you gonna blame next, maybe the people not shielding themselves and staying indoors perhaps??

And as for Ashman going on about the war years, which war are you referring to?? How far back in history do you want to go, you sound like the BLM protesters constantly banging on about 'history'.

No-one has ever said do away with the old people, more that a plan should have been in place to protect and shield them rather than lock up a 20 year old who never has contact with 'vulnerable' people.

Nothing to do with BoJo or the Tories, if Captain Hindsight were in power (Thank the Lord his not)it would be exactly the same. In Wales Labour are in charge in the Northern part of the UK the SNP are in power, in N Ireland it’s a coalition of the two main parties, all are in lock down as is every sensible country in the World. As for history, without it we’d probably still be in the clutches of Nazi Germany if at the first hint of danger, the heroes had taken your attitude towards rules.

I was merely comparing the youngsters of today who think that they are being treated badly because they are being asked to shield themselves instead of spreading the virus with the pensioners who have already had to go without because of the war years. It doesn't matter whether we talk about WW1 or WW11 because always the population has been asked to sacrifice certain things in order for the next generation to flourish. That is all that is being asked of the present generation. Give a bit of your time so that you and yours will benefit in the future.

How to deal with this "unprecedented" crisis is always going to be divisive and a scatter-gun approach to it is not, imo, the way forward HantsPosh.

Having worked all my adult life, paid taxes, NI and paid into a pension scheme, there is no way I shall be thanking any 20yr old/young person for paying for my pension.

We've had the PPE scandal & now they're even at it with food packages for deprived children. This pandemic has shown the levels of corruption going on with taxpayers money.

Billions of our taxes is going to old pals & Tory donors who have no experience in the relative fields, gain contacts without tender & then make a pig's ear of it.

It's absolutely disgusting & unacceptable, but incredibly the weak people of the UK allow this to happen without any real complaints.

....and you think Labour would have done any different, as for the food parcels, the picture was fake, the bread was dated sell by 3rd Nov, so the picture was probably taken in October when kids were in school, so no need for food parcels.

the present generation shouldn't have to shield or stay indoors though, they should be out there earning the money to pay the taxes to isolate the vulnerable who should also keep people away from them at all costs. The Govt should have ring fenced and isolated all the vulnerable in hotels, holiday parks etc and made sure they had access to food, entertainment, heating etc free of charge for as long as it took instead of spending billions on paying people's wages for months on end and if these people didn't want to be isolated then that's their choice but they accept the consequences. By the time this lockdown ends this will have been going on for a year, this can't go on forever
