Mindless idiots

Post by pleasureboy60 » 02 Feb 2020, 09:49

Once again poshs great win was slightly overshadowed by a minority of mindless idiots who were fighting amongst themselves and generally causing mayhem yesterday having obviously spent much of their time before the game necking copious amounts of alcohol. A group of idiots behind me were that drunk they could hardly stand up and made it obviously clear that they were going to create havoc for others until eventually being dragged out by police and stewards. My question is! "Why are these louts allowed into the ground in the first place" Total disregard for other fans, including women and children. What's even more annoying is that despite being escorted out the stands. Several managed to find their way back in!. I also think the crowd segregation was very poor at Ipswich. Far too easy for some of these mindless morons to inflict misery on the home supporters and ruin what was a very enjoyable afternoon

This has so often been the case at away league games, the bigger the crowd the bigger the following of the noxious few. I expect it is the same at London Road, but imagine that either said bunch of morons are dispersed more thinly or are contained in an area where they can do less harm.

An Ipswich steward I spoke to after the game, said they only rarely have problems with ill mannered fans but that Posh seem to have an incredible number of very young kids, high on alcohol or cocaine or both, that would just not do as they were asked.
Stewarding at Portman Road has always been a bit of a joke and the police too were very ineffectual, merely standing in a line in front of the fans, offering no help to the stewards at all. Horrible place to go to!

It is now, at my age, one of the reasons that I have started to choose which away games to attend. History tells me which to stay away from.

It was my first ever visit to Portman Road and, I have to admit, when I saw the line of stewards separating both sets of fans, I thought it was a recipe for disaster.
There were a handful of Ipswich fans stood throughout the first half just goading Posh fans. They left after the second goal. The police/stewards did nothing about it whatsoever.

Very strange set up all round. It was like going back to the 1970's to watch a football match
