Post by DoubleRay » 25 Dec 2019, 18:18

Here's my top 5. Posh players of all time.( Yours may differ.)
I'm excluding Assambalonga and Gayle. They weren't here long enough.

1. Terry Bly
2. Craig Mackail Smith
3. George Boyd
4. David Farrell
5. David Seaman

i never saw Bly play but his scoring record speaks for itself.

George Boyd - predictably
Aaron McLean - one of the most consistent goalscorers we've seen
Tommy Robson - shame on you all for leaving him out
Martin Pike - one of the best full backs ive seen in a Posh shirt
Tony Adcock - genius

I saw Tommy Robson play. He wasn't the best player.
That's not to say we don't respect him because we know his heart has always has been at the club.

Probably on TV I saw McCann a few times live but only saw Robson live on about 3 occasions. Work, Family and Money tore a big hole in my viewing figures. I actually saw Kgosi Nthle more times than I saw Tommy Robson.

This could be interesting if players who played for Posh went on to great things. Seaman, Davies, Etherington, Martin, Bennett, Boyd,Tomlin, Dougan, Wile, Quow for starters.

All of the players mentioned have been superb for Posh in their time and each holds a special memory for each individual who posts. I'm finding it impossible to choose although, Bobby Doyle, Emery, Boyd, Seaman, Ryan Bennett, McCann, Turner, CMS, Tomlin, Toney and Adcock are some of the players that are my favourites. Putting them into a cohesive team would be impossible. (for a start my selection is woefully short of defensive players. This shows the way I think the game should (but isn't) played!
