Posh v Bolton

Post by tonyp » 08 Dec 2019, 02:38

Last time Bolton came to London Road was on Sunday November 13th 2016.
Posh won 1-0. (Michael Smith scored the goal).
Grant McCann was the manager.
Attendance 4,780.

Bolton seem to be improving following their poor start to this season.
They will be desperate to get off the bottom of the table.
Could be a tough game.

Bolton and their dumped on fans don't fancy their chances here.
We have enough firepower up front to worry them and I'm again expecting to see some yet more spectacular goals.
Amongst many options, Kanu will play the sprinter on the right, and Toney along with Eisa will muller them rigid.

5-0 please.

Indications that Boyd and Maddie could be fit for the game. That's good but I can only see them being on the bench.
They can't be 100% after a lay off. Might be wrong and that Fergie has full faith in them.

The 3-4-3 system worked excellently at Fratton Park, I would hope that the manager goes with the same again unless of course one of that team is unwell or injured.

That is just one of about three different systems that Ferguson uses. It worked well at Fratton Park as you said but I think he will know which system he will apply.

Yes, his favourite seems to be to start with the diamond until he finds it not working when he chucks on two more strikers and takes off a full back and one of the diamond. Leaving him a 3-3-4 with Toney acting as another defender as well as midfielder and striker.

A couple of changes from Pompey away several still out and joined by Kanu, Mason slips down to the bench presumably to allow for the diamond

Well we didn't Roger them but 1-0 will do for those 3 points and we are only now 1 point behind Ipswich thanks to Tom Nichols.

Such a weird game, we had enough chances to have won that by a cricket score, surely we can't have that much bad luck in one game again this season. All the players were guilty of missing nailed on chances or passing when it would have been easier to shoot. Toney as usual was man of the match although he was ran close by Kent and Reed. Tasdemir did some good work in the first half but seemed to tire and could possibly have been replaced earlier, although that being said, whe he was replaced, Bolton got on top and we had very much less of the ball from then on.

I am a big fan of Tasdemir and he showed that our team needs a hard working but creative player in that middle third. He really put some steel into that position and along with the equally hard working Woodyard was very effective. If Joe Ward could learn to control a ball properly and then pass it to a blue shirt then he would be a starter every game. Until then? Beevers needs to be taught that if you are defending a high ball, then heading it forwards instead of straight up in the air would save him having to head the ball so many times!
Fantastic result and along with other teams results have done us no harm at all!
